A man was taken into custody on “severe charges” of a drug-trafficking offense in an operation on Terceira Island in the Azores that resulted in the seizure of about two kilograms of synthetic drugs, the JV said Thursday.
According to the Azores Criminal Investigation Department of the Judicial Police (PJ), a 29-year-old man was arrested “at the scene of the crime” and the drug seized was methamphetamine.
Police also said in a press release that the seized drug “was purchased by the defendants on San Miguel Island” and “would be sufficient to prepare an amount in excess of 19,000 average daily individual doses.”
After the first judicial interrogation, the detainee was left with a “preventive measure of restraint”, the most serious one.
The SP will continue to investigate.
