Who works hard, he achieves. This maxim suits Ricardo Pereira perfectly. At least that’s how those closest to him explain his success. Known for the tenacity and diligence with which he takes on every project, the actor has long ago developed a plan to succeed in the acting world, which has always involved the internationalization of his career. This was the case almost two decades ago.
He is now crowned with a “position” that, he says in a statement sent to Boa Onda, makes him “very happy”: he will be Netflix’s creative producer for the national market, “showrunner”, actor and, in the future, also director of production this streaming platform. The actor will be tasked with identifying Portuguese projects in Spain and Brazil that can be developed with the platform. Added value to the national production and another step towards the rise of one of the most solid performers of his generation.
“I enter this new phase with enthusiasm, determination, dedication and responsibility. This is a huge creative challenge, very demanding, but at the same time it will allow me to get more and more involved in the creative process. I was always interested in work and knowledge in various areas of my profession, I was always in search of artistic versatility,” the 43-year-old actor justifies himself.
“LIKE A SPORTSMAN”
In 2018, having lived his moments of glory in Brazil but supported projects in Portugal, Ricardo Pereira admitted in an interview with Globo (which he now declines) that he worked “like an athlete”. In fact, the artist has never stopped breathing since he made his debut in 2000: he has been involved—often as the protagonist—in nearly 40 film and over 50 television projects, including series, soap operas and as a director. leading. He also directed dozens of plays.
When Globo opened its doors wide to him in 2004 to star in the soap opera Como Uma Onda, he did not hesitate to move to Brazil with all his weapons and luggage. He seized the opportunity with all his might and, after four soap operas, signed a long-term contract with the Brazilian station. His then girlfriend (now wife) Franziska followed him.
He has seen three children born in Terras de Vera Cruz but always with bags packed as he never stopped working for SIC, a rare occurrence among actors seeking internationalization.
He tried his luck in the US, and in the meantime starred with Fanny Ardant in the film Stubborn Cadenzas (2013). With a new challenge on Netflix, the doors of the world are finally open for you.
