Dozens of Catholics marked this Saturday the 106th anniversary of the first appearance of Our Lady of Fatima to the children of shepherds by donating a copy of the image of the Virgin and endorsing a local project to build a copy of the apparition chapel in Caracas. .
“We welcomed a replica of the Virgin of Fatima, brought directly from Portugal, which came to us as the start of a project to build the first replica of the Capelinha (Apparitions) of Fatima in Venezuela,” a Lusa source from the organization said.
According to Andrea Acevedo Vargas, the 1.15 meter image was donated by someone in Portugal who ordered it from a specialist shop near the Sanctuary of Fatima.
Regarding the local small chapel project, he explained that it would be built by ABC Prodein, a Christian charitable association that promotes integrated community development, founded in 1968 by Father Rodrigo Molina in Peru.
ABC Prodein is headquartered in Spain and has a presence in 11 countries. He has also been in Venezuela since 1983, where he launched the Moda Jacinta, a garment inspired by Fatima’s shepherdess Jacinta Marto.
At the ceremony, which was attended by several descendants of the Portuguese, three children dressed as little shepherds were accompanied by girls from the choir Vicariate da Santissima Trindade.
