A 42-year-old man was detained by the GNR for a crime related to drug trafficking, from whom more than 6,270 doses of the drug were seized in the municipality of Vidigueira (Beja), security forces said on Tuesday.
A statement from the NPR Beja Territorial Command explained that the arrest occurred on Monday as part of an investigation into a drug-trafficking crime that “lasted about six months” and the military guards determined that the suspect was engaged in direct sales to a consumer.
During the investigation, six searches were carried out, one at home, one on agricultural land and four in vehicles, seizing 5,289 doses of heroin, 520 doses of cocaine, 410 doses of hashish and 57 doses of marijuana.
GNR also seized 66 cannabis seeds, 66 12-gauge rounds of ammunition, five mobile phones, three scales, two laptops, a crossbow, a dagger, two knives, three cars, a motorcycle and €106,239 in cash.
During the operation, the guards also seized various items related to the preparation, packaging and conditioning of drugs.
“Following police action, it was also possible to dismantle a cannabis greenhouse that had been installed inside the house, and various electrical materials were seized,” the document says.
The detainee will attend the first court interrogation in a Cuban court.
