A 62-year-old swimmer of Belgian nationality was rescued from the sea at Caxinas beach in Vila do Conde this Friday afternoon.
The warning was issued by concessionaire Prainha after he realized the man was in trouble.
Rescuers from Vila do Conde City Council’s annual bathing service, a project that recently came into effect, were immediately rushed to the site.
In addition to the rescuers, the rescue operation, which lasted about 20 minutes, also involved elements of the SeaWatch project, a motorcycle from the Povoa de Varzim rescue station and a Marine Police picket.
When rescuers arrived, the swimmer was exhausted. The man was rescued on shore and did not require hospital treatment.
