A 54-year-old man was detained on Tuesday by the Judicial Police (PJ) on suspicion of raping a cognitively impaired woman in Oliveira de Azemeis.
On Saturday evening, a woman was found in her home by an assailant who used violence and physical force to rape her. According to the SP, the suspect lived next to the victim.
The woman required hospitalization and told a social worker about the abuse she had suffered. The PSP was informed of the situation and reported the facts to the SP.
“Once the facts were reported to the police, immediate action was taken to obtain evidence and subsequently arrest the suspect,” the statement said.
The detainee has no criminal record and will be present at the first judicial interrogation to apply coercive measures.
