Four civilians died on Monday as a result of missiles fired by Russia at Ukraine, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said.
“Today, four people died as a result of Russian attacks. My condolences to family and friends,” he said in his usual evening address.
A wave of Russian missiles hit targets across Ukraine on Monday, including energy infrastructure, forcing state-owned Ukrenergo to carry out a power outage.
According to Volodymyr Zelensky, 70 Russian missiles were launched, but Ukrainian air defense shot down most of them, although “unfortunately” they cannot guarantee “complete safety of the sky” yet, as there were several hits.
However, the president expressed gratitude to the European partners for the air defense systems they use.
“Each downed Russian missile is concrete proof that terrorism can be defeated,” he said.
