This Wednesday, the Navy rescued a crew member from a fishing boat after he was bitten by a blue shark off the coast of Vila do Conde.
The 35-year-old victim was found sailing on the Vila do Infante about 90 nautical miles, which is about 167 kilometers, west of Vila do Conde.
The Vila do Infante called for help at 7:23 p.m. on the phone, according to a Navy statement, saying a crew member had been bitten and was bleeding profusely.
The rescue was carried out by a Portuguese Air Force EH-101 and the victim was taken to Sa Carneiro Airport, where he landed at 23:29.
The crew member was taken to a hospital in Porto.
