Fishing for bluefin tuna has been banned since Tuesday, given the current data on emissions made by the Portuguese fleet in the Atlantic Ocean, the General Directorate of Natural Resources, Safety and Marine Services (DGRM) said.
“Given the current data on the release of bluefin tuna (“thunnus thynnus”) by the Portuguese fleet in the Atlantic Ocean east of 45°W. […] Fishing for the species and zones mentioned above is prohibited,” reads a note published by the DGRM.
This ban starts at 00:00 on Tuesday.
The DGRM is a central direct government service with administrative autonomy that aims to develop security and maritime services, implement fisheries policies and conserve resources.
