The worst could have happened this Monday afternoon to the family of a mother and two children around the age of 5. The car in which they were traveling on Feyre began to burn. The flames broke out in the engine area and quickly threatened to quickly spread to the entire car.
The mother managed to go outside, and at a time when she was going through moments of great stress, several people, including Vitor Brandão, helped her to remove the two children from the restraining chairs.
The Ombudsman of Santa Casa da Misericordia de Aroca passed by this place from time to time and noticed the woman’s plight. Vitor Brandão and his friend stopped and helped pull the children out of the already burning car.
The woman’s children were not hurt or harmed. The Ombudsman of Santa Casa da Misericordia de Aroca and his friend used fire extinguishers to try and put out the calls, but firefighters from Feira and Esmoriz needed to put out the fire.
A fire warning was issued on the road connecting the A29 in Maceda with the A1 in Feira around 17:00.
The car was destroyed, but a family tragedy could have been avoided thanks to the spirit of solidarity.
