Independent Russian journalists on Tuesday spoke to Lusa about the climate of uncertainty they feel as they practice their profession, fearing a “wave of poisoning” recorded against press professionals and activists in Russia.
At the Harriman Institute of Columbia University in New York, Galina Timchenko, co-founder, CEO and publisher of Meduza, the largest independent Russian media outlet publishing in Russian and English, and Ivan Kolpakov, editor-in-chief of Meduza, spoke about the problems they will have to broadcast news inside Russia, despite strong Kremlin propaganda.
Answering a question from the Lusa agency about the dangers of practicing independent journalism in Russia, Ivan Kolpakov assured that these dangers are not limited to the country’s land borders: cases of attacks on Russian journalists abroad are multiplying.
