Seven areas of the continent will be under an orange warning on Thursday due to forecast heavy seas, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) said on Monday.
The areas of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Lisbon, Leiria, Aveiro, Coimbra and Braga will be under an orange warning from 3:00 to 6:00 on Thursday due to rough seas, with northwesterly waves of 5 up to 7 meters, the maximum height of which will be 5-7 meters. 14 meters.
These seven areas will be under a yellow warning for maritime disturbances from 12:00 Monday to 00:00 Tuesday and from 21:00 Wednesday to 3:00 Thursday.
The IPMA has also placed the areas of Porto, Viana do Castelo, Aveiro and Braga under a yellow warning level due to the forecast of occasional heavy downpours, occasional hail and thunderstorms between 6pm this Monday and 9pm Tuesday, Thursday and at 3:00 on Wednesday. .
The areas of Viseu and Vila Real will also be under a yellow warning for heavy rain from 00:00 to 3:00 on Wednesday.
An orange warning is issued by IPMA whenever there is a “moderate to high risk meteorological situation” and a yellow warning when there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the meteorological situation.
