Jose Bessa, a 67-year-old firefighter from the Castelo de Paiva corporation, died Tuesday afternoon, apparently after being stung by an Asian wasp.
The warning to the firefighters of Castelo de Paiva was transmitted at about 15:00 by the victims themselves. Before the cardiopulmonary arrest (CRA) occurred, the firefighter still managed to call his colleagues and ask for help. Upon the arrival of Feira’s VMER, the victim was already in the PCR, apparently suffering from anaphylactic shock. Resuscitation efforts began, but the firefighter was unable to survive the severity of his injuries. The death was confirmed at the scene by the VMER team in Feira.
The fireman, who already had extensive experience in the Castelo de Paiva corporation, was from the parish of Real. The man was doing minor agricultural work on a rural plot of land when he was bitten.
The body was taken to the Porto Forensic Institute.
