A hospital in Wuhan, China, is investigating after it posted a video showing a doctor punching a patient during surgery, the agency said. BBC.
The incident happened in 2019, but the images have already gone viral on Chinese social media. During eye surgery, the doctor hit the patient on the head three times.
The hospital administration clarified that the 82-year-old woman “showed intolerance to local anesthesia” and repeatedly moved her head and eyes. According to the ophthalmology unit, the surgeon “treated the patient roughly in an emergency situation.”
Now the woman’s son has come to explain that his mother is blind in her left eye, although there is no certainty about the connection of this fact with the incident that occurred in 2019. After the operation, the hospital offered compensation of 63 euros to the patient, the son added.
Chinese authorities are investigating the matter.
