According to an Iraqi security source, explosions were reported this Monday at eight locations near the US Consulate in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan. ABC News. Four people died.
Iran has struck targets linked to the “jihadist” group “Islamic State” and “spies of the Zionist regime (Israel)” in Syria and Iraq, where it struck an area near the US consulate.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for the attack, claiming it used ballistic missiles and wanted to destroy Mossad headquarters (the headquarters of Israel’s national intelligence service). The targets were “spy headquarters” and “meetings of anti-Iran terrorists in parts of the region.”
The brutality of the explosion led to a halt in air traffic in Erbil. Three drones were shot down near the airport.

The explosion was a response to a twin attack in Iran in early January that was claimed by the Islamic State.
According to local media, the Iraqi government will hold a security meeting on Tuesday to address Iran’s “violation of Iraqi territory and non-compliance with the security agreement between the two countries.”
