In a statement, the Iranian ministry stressed that the two suspects “are foreigners” and added that explosive devices, detonators, weapons and ammunition, as well as various military equipment, including night vision goggles, were seized.
Iran’s Interior Ministry said several suspects were detained over suspected involvement in the attack in Kerman, including three suspected members of the Islamic State jihadist group, which claimed responsibility for the attack.
On the 11th of this month, Tehran said that one of the suicide bombers involved in the attack was an Israeli of Tajik origin, while stressing that it had expanded operations to foreign countries to arrest others involved in the attack, about 35 people. people in custody.
He also said that the “organizer” of the Kerman attack was a Tajik citizen known as “Abdullah Tayiki” who entered the country through the border with Pakistan, like the suicide bomber who blew himself up near Soleimani’s grave. . .
The attack took place during an event where thousands of people paid tribute to Soleimani, one of the victims of the US drone attack on January 3, 2020 in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.
Also among the dead was Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, then number two in the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), a coalition of pro-government Iraqi militias backed by Iran.
