The Hezbollah Brigades, a powerful Iranian-backed militant group in Iraq, announced on Tuesday it was suspending its military operations against US troops after Washington vowed to respond to a drone attack in Jordan that killed three soldiers.
“We are announcing the suspension of our military and security operations against the occupying forces to avoid any embarrassment to the Iraqi government,” he announced the move on his website.
The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) has indicated the potential responsibility of Hezbollah brigades for a deadly attack on a US logistics base near the border with Iraq and Syria on Sunday that killed three US soldiers and wounded about 40.
