Ksenia Khavana, a dual Russian-US citizen, was detained on charges of treason for raising funds for Ukrainian NGOs and opposing the war.
According to a British newspaper The keeperKsenia Khavana could face 20 years in prison for transferring $51 (about 47 euros) to a Ukrainian charity on February 24, 2022, the day war was declared between Russia and Ukraine.
The 33-year-old woman received dual citizenship when she married a US citizen. Currently lives in Los Angeles, USA.
In a statement that quotes The keeperThe Russian FSB said that the detainee was collecting funds for a Ukrainian organization that purchased weapons and other equipment for the Ukrainian armed forces.
After Xenia Havana’s arrest became public, the White House announced it would continue its investigation.
