The Cuban government has for the first time asked for help from the World Food Program (WFP) due to difficulties in continuing to distribute milk to children under seven years of age, the UN specialized agency confirmed this Wednesday.
According to PAM, the executive leadership of the organization, which describes itself as “the largest humanitarian organization in the world”, has received an official message from Havana and is already sending milk powder to the Caribbean island.
“We confirm that PAM has received an official communication from the government. [cubano] requesting support to continue the monthly distribution of one kilogram of milk to girls and boys under seven years of age throughout the country,” the WFP delegation on the island said in writing, as quoted by Spanish news agency Efe.
