The IL President said this Monday, at the start of the last week of the election campaign, that it is time for the Portuguese to choose between the past and the future, confirming that IL is “here to seriously change” Portugal.
“The time has come to make a choice. Do we want a choice for the future or do we want the country to focus on the past and be tied to what was the central block, the occupation of the state by clientele and inefficiency,” said Rui Rocha at the end of the visit to Cartonagem Trindade in Sao Joao da Madeira, Aveiro district.
In the constituency of PS Secretary General Pedro Nuno Santos, where the IL has never elected a single deputy, a liberal leader asked: “Is it better to choose the leaders of the Liberal Initiative list in different circles, where we can elect or elect the seventh or eighth from the PS or PSD lists? “
And he also asked the question: “Is it worth another bet on the future or is it worth another bet stuck in the past, and which is more similar?”
Urging Portuguese people to vote on March 10, Rui Rocha insisted that “the opportunity for major change, a change in policy and practice” lies in Illinois.
Other options on the table are options that do not guarantee effective change, but rather the practices of the past, he stressed.
A month before the 50th anniversary on April 25, the liberal leader stressed that the Portuguese should feel free, without blackmail or pressure, to make choices for the future because Portugal does not have time for “more of the same.”
Therefore, at the final stage of the election campaign, Rui Rocha reminded voters that now is “the time to decide what changes and what kind of future they want for the country.”
“Changes are already underway, changes are about to happen from March 10, now is the time to decide what changes we want,” he insisted.
The President of IL, who was accompanied during the visit by the head of the Aveiro list, Mario Amorim Lopez, said that he was “here” for the Portuguese people, namely for young people who want a solution to stay in the country, for the families of those who want tax breaks, companies, who want to grow, and those who want an effective state not tied to a political clientele.
