A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murdering an 84-year-old elderly man in Vinayesa.
According to the Judicial Police, the facts date back to April 17, when the suspect attacked the victim, pushed him and threw him to the ground, causing injuries that led to his death.
The detainee will be present at the judicial interrogation for the application of coercive measures.
Lusa contacted a source at the district headquarters of the National Republican Guard (NRG), who confirmed that they had been called that day to an alleged attack on a commercial establishment, a cafe in the town of Rebordelo. When the military arrived, the victim was being treated by a medical team from the National Institute of Emergency Medicine (INEM).
GNR also said the suspect was no longer at the scene, but authorities identified him shortly after. The next day, the guard contacted the Braganza hospital, where the elderly man was taken, and it was established that he was in serious condition.
The elderly man died, but the exact date has not yet been established. The investigation was transferred to the prosecutor’s office.
A detainee suspected of murder will be subjected to judicial interrogation with a view to applying coercive measures.
