A 14-year-old boy died trying to save his younger friend this Saturday on the River Tyne in England. Two young people were playing on a rope swing by the river when the 13-year-old fell into the water. According to the Daily Mail, the deceased teenager jumped into the river to save his friend.
Authorities were alerted by a local resident at 3:30 p.m.
When emergency services arrived at the scene, they were only able to save the 13-year-old. The teenager was taken to hospital, where he is in critical condition. The 14-year-old’s body was later found in the water and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness said that he saw a group of teenagers by the river and they were probably all together. According to the woman, the River Tyne is very deep. He also says he cut the swing several times for the safety of the young people.
