German Jose was unable to meet with Pope Francis. Find out why

Portuguese Ricardo Araujo Pereira, Maria Rueff and Joana Marques are among the 105 invited by the head of the Catholic Church. German Jose was one of the artists also invited. However, he was forced to refuse the meeting.

“I just arrived in New York, USA, just to thank many people for their affection and concern for the fact that they find it strange that I am not going to meet comedians with the Pope,” the artist began by saying in a video sent in the program “Noite das Stars” (CMTV). And he continued: “I was invited by my dear friend Maria Ruff… Unfortunately, I had planned this week in New York for a long time. So, in addition to missing some of the wonderful Lisbon People’s Saints festivals, I also missed the opportunity to be with my fellow comedians and with such a unique figure as Pope Francis.”

Finally, German Jose regretted his absence from this meeting. “It is with great regret that I missed this opportunity. The planned trip was really the only reason,” he concluded.

In total, the Apostolic Palace will host 105 artists. According to the list published by the Holy See, in addition to Maria Rueff, Ricardo Araujo Pereira and Joana Marques, the event will be attended by comedy greats from around the world, such as Americans Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert and Whoopi Goldberg and Brazilian comedians Fabio Porchat and Christian Verson. The country with the largest number of entries is Italy, with a total of 67 artists entered.
