North American President and re-election candidate Joe Biden on Tuesday attributed his poor performance in the debate with his conservative rival Donald Trump last Thursday to fatigue caused by his recent international travel.
Biden said it was “not very smart” to “travel around the world multiple times” shortly before the confrontation and that he even “almost fell asleep on stage” during a meeting with Democratic donors outside Washington, adding: “That’s not an excuse, that’s an explanation.”
“I didn’t listen to my advisers,” the 81-year-old Democratic president admitted five days after a debate in which he appeared deeply confused and at times at a loss as to who he will face in the Republican presidential election in November.
