Several people were injured when fireworks exploded during a music show at LaVell Edwards Stadium in the US state of Utah on Thursday during US Independence Day celebrations.
The accident occurred during the Stadium of Fire, an annual music event headlined this year by the Jonas Brothers. The fireworks were launched during the national anthem and ended up hitting the performers on the field and the crowd in the stands.
According to New York Posta person was hit in the face and seriously injured. Six more people were taken to hospital. Most of the injured suffered burns.
The show was interrupted for a while to allow medical teams on site to treat the injured.
The American Freedom Festival, which organized the event, ensured that all security checks were carried out before and after the incident.
“Safety is of the utmost importance to us. All pyrotechnics at Stadium Fire were thoroughly checked before the show and checked again after today’s incident,” the company said in a statement, as quoted by Reuters Agency.
The authorities are investigating the case.
