On Tuesday, the United States accused Russian television channel RT and Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) of using artificial intelligence tools on the X network to spread disinformation in North America, Spain, Ukraine and Israel.
The US Department of Justice said in a statement that two domains (mlrtr.com and otanmail.com) were registered by the FSB through a company in the US state of Arizona to create mail servers that were used to create fictitious accounts on the social network.
In addition, North American authorities have been given permission to access 968 accounts on X allegedly created by an operation using artificial intelligence-based “software” called Meliorator to spread false information.
