Bruno Romao, who was tried for killing a man with a knife wound to the chest at the Torres Vedras carnival in 2022, was sentenced this Wednesday to 14 years in prison. Pedro Silva, the 32-year-old victim, was attacked by an assassin while he was escorting his girlfriend, Bruno Roman’s former partner, on February 26.
The 22-year-old young man confessed to the crime, saying he acted out of jealousy. He mentioned that he had a major memory blackout due to the amount of alcohol and drugs he drank that night. Now they say that he “regrets that he took a man’s life.”
Bruno Romao was on trial for qualified murder, but the court decided to charge him with simple murder, resulting in a commuted sentence. The prosecutor’s office considers the 14-year sentence inadequate in view of the crime committed, since at that time the young man was on probation for domestic violence.
The killer’s lawyer emphasizes that he will appeal the decision, taken this Wednesday, in the Loures court.
