A GNR soldier died this Sunday when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a car in Anciao, Leiria. As a result of the accident, two more died: a soldier’s comrade, who was riding a motorcycle, and a car driver.
A GNR source said the motorcycle driver was 38 years old and was a GNR soldier at the Anciao Territorial Post. The age of the passenger is still unknown to the authorities.
The driver of the car was 59 years old. Two young women, aged 19 and 21, who were traveling in the same car, received minor injuries.
Anciao and Penela firefighters, the National Institute of Emergency Medical Services and the GNR were on site, with a total of 26 operational assets supported by nine vehicles.
The alarm was announced at 19:30. The motorcycle exploded in a collision with a car and the car caught fire.
Anciana Mayor António José Dominguez added that the victims were from the municipality.
